So, I’ve been doing this banting thing for a while. As suspicious as I still am of the craze, I work very hard to do everything in moderation. I allow myself treats (Lindt 70% dark chocolate is the holy grail of LCHF treats), and I allow myself cheat meals (not an all-you-can-eat carb pig-out, but something like a small pizza, or a small bowl of pasta). I’ve been very good about packing lunches every day as well as making sure I eat a small breakfast (I hate breakfast, this will never change), and drinking 2l of water (thank you SodaStream for helping me drink that stuff!) and I’m really starting to see results.
My lunches generally consist of a few slices of cucumber, a piece of cheese, some sliced turkey and a few pieces of biltong. Breakfasts are mini-quiche fritatta things (choose any recipe from Pinterest), made with bacon, cheese and eggs. Dinners are usually just a piece of chicken and a salad, or even a smoothie if I feel my legs cramping up. The only real side-effect I’ve noticed from banting is my calves cramp up sometimes, but that is quickly remedied by a banana smoothie, and a little bit of salt on my chicken.
Below are my before & after photos from December to January. I also took some measurements earlier this month as well so that I can see what I’m achieving, being the achievement-oriented person that I am!
