Last Friday, after having spent a week in off-site training in Seapoint (quite a commute from my little Northern Suburbs home), I had a few hours to kill before a lunch date, and thought I would hop on the MyCiti and go down to Camp’s Bay. It was a stunning day, and I was not disappointed!
We’ve lived in Cape Town for just over a year, and between work schedules, money and social anxiety on the part of my boyfriend, it’s been hard to get out and see things, so I grabbed the opportunity with my muddy little paws, and went on an adventure!
I took the MyCiti from Seapoint, to Queen’s Beach, and from there over the berg via Bantry Bay down to Camp’s Bay. I was supposed to meet a friend at 3.30 for lunch in Seapoint, so this left me a few hours to hang around, see some sights and just enjoy the beautiful day. Oh, and what a day it was! The sun was out, I could take off my scarf and cardigan (I dare not take my stockings off in the middle of a bright day, for fear of blinding people), and toddled off to sit in the sun at Kauai and have a smoothie and read my book (Mindy Kaling’s Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)) and enjoy the sunshine. After a short stay, my friend sent me a whatsapp to let me know her meetings had all been moved around, and she couldn’t make lunch. Not to be discouraged, and let something like that ruin my day, I walked back down to the MyCiti bus stop, sat on the wall and read my book, while snapping a few photos on my Hipstamatic app (I always love taking photos with this on random just to see what gems it can create).
I really can see what all the fuss is about: the beach is stunning, and the palm-lined main road gives the beachfront a very “Sunset Boulevard, LA” feel, and I imagine when it’s busier, there is quite a mix of people to sit and watch. I didn’t stop to have a look at what was happening at Cafe Caprice, purely because my plans revolved around a quick stop at Beluga for lunch which, as mentioned, was cancelled. I am definitely planning on doing another drive out there over the weekend to take the Boyfriend to see what it’s all about!
Below are a few of the photos I snapped with Hipstagram (on random), and of course the obligatory “beach selfie”
