I’ve been “umming” and “aaahing” about blogging for a while. This isn’t my first experience with blogging, and I am certainly no stranger to expressing my views, emotions, and thoughts on the Internet. This time around, I wanted to do something different, create a personal brand, as it were. I thought long and hard about what I wanted to do, what I wanted to say and how I wanted to portray myself online. I thought about what I enjoyed, what would give me pleasure, and I came up with beauty. All things beauty, fashion and generally pretty things that either make me feel prettier and more confident (let’s not get started on the eternal argument about whether makeup is more of a help or hinderance to those with low self-esteem) or make my environment prettier. I would like to write about products and experiences I enjoy, and those I don’t.
One thing I want to do differently is to try to aim at reviewing and using only cruelty-free products. This does of course limit me, and making the change is far from easy, as I’ve discovered. Slowly, I want to use up all my makeup that has been tested on animals, and replace it with cruelty-free, and vegan options. As mentioned, this isn’t an easy transition to make, and we are limited in South Africa by the brands that are available to us, but I’m committed to this and will be doing my best to ensure that soon my beauty routine is cruelty-free. The goal is also to replace all my household cleaning products with organic options, as well as my food.
I would be thrilled if you could go on this journey with me, where I write about what I love, hate and all of those in between. I would also love any feedback you have to give, and any suggestions, or products you’d like to see here. You can also follow my blog with Bloglovin
